Large-Scale Abstract Art for Jackson Hole Homes

As I visit more and more modern homes here in Jackson (often painting murals inside them), I’ve realized that designing a home in Jackson Hole often begins with the landscape. The use of natural materials, large windows, and thoughtful architecture make these spaces feel connected to the mountains in a contemporary way. So, of course, the artwork should do the same.

Large-scale abstract art has become a natural fit for modern mountain homes because it complements the architecture rather than competing with it. Instead of illustrating the landscape literally (which you can already see out of the expansive windows), abstract paintings can echo the rhythm and textures of the beauty while allowing the home itself to remain the focal point.

Why Scale Matters

One of the biggest mistakes homeowners make is choosing artwork that is too small. And I get it, an oversized piece is a big decision! However, a large painting creates presence: it anchors a room, balances high ceilings, gives open living spaces a visual focal point, and let’s be real it makes you look like you know what’s up design-wise! In homes with expansive walls and generous natural light, scale often has as much impact as color.

Whether it's displayed above a fireplace (always a safe route) or layered behind the couch (a little more daring)… in a dining room or at the end of a long hallway, a single oversized painting can define the atmosphere of an entire space.

Here’s why Abstract Art works in Mountain Homes

Jackson Hole homes often feature natural wood, stone, steel, linen, and handcrafted details. Abstract artwork pairs beautifully with these materials because it brings movement and texture without overwhelming the room. Rather than telling a literal story, it creates space for the viewer's own interpretation. This allows the artwork to evolve with the home over time while remaining timeless.

My Abstract Approach

My paintings are created on raw linen, allowing the natural texture of the material to become part of the finished work. Rather than painting recognizable mountain scenes, I'm interested in capturing the feeling of a place through layered color, subtle marks, and overall, a more quiet composition while still having some neon pops! Travel, culture, adventures, and the landscapes I've experienced all influence the work, but they are translated into abstraction instead of direct representation. The result is artwork that feels equally at home in a contemporary Jackson Hole residence, a luxury hospitality space, or a thoughtfully designed home elsewhere in the world.

Choosing the Right Painting

When selecting artwork for a home, I encourage collectors to think beyond matching colors. Consider the following:

  • How do you want the room to feel?

  • Where does the eye naturally travel when entering the space?

  • Does the artwork create calm, energy, curiosity, or balance? Something else?

  • Will this piece still feel meaningful years from now?

The strongest paintings become part of a home's identity. I don’t want you to just fill an empty wall.

Original Abstract Art in Jackson Hole

Whether you're designing a new mountain home or searching for artwork that reflects a contemporary interpretation of the West, original abstract art offers something deeply personal.

I'm currently creating a collection of abstract paintings on raw linen inspired by travel, texture, and my experience of moving through the world. Each piece is created by hand in Jackson Hole and designed to bring warmth, depth, and fun to the spaces where you live.
